Moto Guzzi made its mark with the Falcone: with a highly reliable engine, it was equally at ease as a sports or touring machine and was also well regarded by the Italian authorities. After it was discontinued in 1967, the firm decided to reintroduce a military version of it two years later, known as the Nuovo Falcone, which was joined by a civilian model. Its simple construction made it easy to use and maintain, while its 500cc single-cylinder engine ran like clockwork. To give it a stronger character, Moto Guzzi fitted it with a twin exhaust, but despite this, the model enjoyed only limited commercial success, in the face of more modern competitors.

The Nuovo Falcone from the Panini collection is in good original condition and is in the shade of khaki specific to the military authorities. With a Modena registration, it is complete and quite well preserved, thanks to the many years it spent on display in the museum. In addition, it represents a milestone in the history of the make, as it was the last Moto Guzzi with a horizontal single-cylinder engine, a fact which will not be lost on enthusiasts.
