Under the direction of Juliette Leroy-Prost, the department puts the spotlight on the treasures that the natural world has given us: those that scholars, researchers and the curious have kept and studied since the Renaissance. Each auction unveils numerous objects in the spirit of a curiosity cabinet: reptiles and fish, insects, butterflies, preserved liquid specimens and osteology.
From prehistory with mammoth tusks, dinosaurs, fossils or geological remains to the poles with polar bears, narwhal teeth or walrus skulls, the department offers a varied selection to taxidermy collectors.
Lovers of the African continent will discover skulls, skins, zebras, lions or tigers as well as a variety of heads or trophies. Ornithologists will also find hundreds of specimens of exotic birds and birds of prey.
Artcurial’s specialists are at your disposal for free and confidential valuations of your objects related to natural history and taxidermy.
