- Attractive patina
- Part of the Panini collection for 44 years
- A true Moto Guzzi classic
- No reserve
Although it initially borrowed the 500 cc single-cylinder engine from its predecessor (the Sport 14), with its opposed valve configuration (side intake, pushrod exhaust) as found in our example, the GTV 500 differed significantly in that it had a more modern chassis. It has oscillating parallelogram rear suspension with friction springs and a four-speed 'V' gearbox. The fuel tank features an elegant ovoid shape, with curved mudguards to the rear. Subsequent versions would be equipped with the new, full pushrod single-cylinder engine.
The first owner of this GTV 500 was based in Cremona, and the bike went through another 13 owners before being purchased by Umberto Panini in 1980. It is presented in what appears to be its original state, or that of an old restoration, with an attractive patina. The grips are in their original rubber, which is somewhat damaged, and the saddle bears the Giuliari mark. This complete motorbike will delight enthusiasts who are more interested in the authentic look than the glitz of an overly showy restoration.
