- Exclusive and rare model (only 2,000 examples)
- Ambitious styling by Pierre Terblanche, the brand’s Design Director
- Almost-new condition
- No reserve
As a tribute to Ducati’s past rather than its pure performance, the 900 MH “evoluzione” was Pierre Terblanche’s (Ducati Design Director) interpretation of Mike Hailwood’s 1978 Tourist Trophy winning NCR machine. The design was particularly bold, it cleverly blended tradition and modernity with a fairing which incorporated a round headlight with chrome edges and an analogue rev counter, as well as twin exhausts pointing towards the rear similar to fighter jet engines. There was plenty of innovation on the technical side, such as the special frame manufactured by the Dutch Troll workshops and a rear suspension with a tubular swing arm and single shock absorber.
The desmodromic twin-cylinder came from the 900 SS and the transparent timing case enabled the camshaft drive belts to be seen. To emphasise the exclusivity of this model, the brand limited its production to only 2,000 examples, available to order online only. The success was instantaneous and half an hour after the site was launched on the 31st December 1999, the first 1,000 units were already reserved. Twelve hours later, all MH 900 e examples were sold out.
Numbered 1735/2000 and purchased in March 2016, this particular example is therefore an opportunity to acquire an extremely sought-after and rare model on the market. Even more so since this example is in almost-new condition thanks to its low mileage of 5,140 km.
Impact on VAT: As the vehicle has been driven less than 6,000 kilometers, it can be considered “as new” for VAT purposes in certain European countries. Please contact your local tax authorities for confirmation prior to purchase. For a French buyer, a VAT of 20% will be charged on the hammer price and the premium.
