Coming from Philippe Starck’s personal collection, this Yamaha TT 600 (type DJ01) has had modifications carried out, set by the internationally renowned designer. The result: a unique vehicle signed by Philippe Starck on the left side of the number plate.
All bodywork elements are made of aluminium or stainless steel, such as both mudguards, the tank, the small wind deflector and the rear fairing which hides the exhaust on the right side. Aluminium rims are fitted with a mix of Pirelli tyres and the bike is equipped with a lovely light beige seat.
In polished aluminium towards the rear part, the tank is painted yellow at the front with a vertical cut-out; it was reminiscent of the famous Aprilia 6.5 Moto unveiled in 1996, which earned its place in the 1998 exhibition “The Art of Motorcycle” at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, thanks to its radical design. Philippe Starck also used this vertical cut-out on other models, including a Kawasaki W800 that he revisited in 2011.
Although the type DJ01 frame was produced at the end of the 1990s, this motorcycle was first registered in 2005. It was barely used by its creator, which means that it is in very good condition and is equipped with an electric starter. Qualities of this enduro model are not altered in any way by modifications of the bodywork and we find an excellent single-cylinder four-stroke engine, as well as the healthy behaviour of this light machine, of which the first version of 1983 had many improvements undertaken. On the road or off-road, it will give its owner the satisfaction of riding an exceptional vehicle redesigned by one of the greatest contemporary creators.
