- Full restoration
- €22 500 of recent invoices
- Original 3.8L version, the most desirable one
This desirable 3.8L Jaguar E-Type left the factory on the 6th July 1964 and went to “Jaguar Cars”, distributor in New York who marketed it on the 17th July. As evidenced by its Jaguar Heritage certificate, it was cream in colour with black upholstery and matching soft top. A note in the file states that its first owner, Craig Benfield, was a Captain in the US army. He kept the car for about 20 years, until it crossed the Atlantic again to reside in England for around thirty years. When purchased in Paris in 2020 by the current owner (an enthusiast of quality automobiles), this 3.8 went through a major restoration process which included the bodywork, the engine and the upholstery. However, it was necessary to replace the engine since the cast iron was porous. The full engine rebuild with the correct 3.8L block was carried out by MC Motors in Signes; and at the same time, the gearbox was also serviced, shock absorbers and rear wheel bearings were changed and the transmission was restored. Over €22,000 in total was spent between 2020 and 2023. Today the car is in excellent working condition; It has a light patina following the last restoration, which gives it an incredible charm. It will arouse the desire of enthusiasts to get behind the wheel and fully enjoy the mesmerising sound of this XK block as well as appreciate the numerous work which was carried out on this car.
