This Daytona is remarkable for several reasons: its provenance and its condition.

This 365 GTB/4 was delivered new by the official agent Italcar s.r.l. of Torino in Italy in March 1972. Its first owner was none other than Giancarlo Gagliardi. He started his career in Brabham Formula 3 cars and stepped onto the podium several times; he was then hired by Scuderia Jolly Club on Tecno, with whom he won his first victory in the Italian championship. He then moved to F2 and took 6th place in Monza. In 1971, he was hired by Scuderia Filipinetti and took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a 512M but was forced to retire due to a mechanical failure. In 1974, he drove for NART at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Dino 308 GT4 LM and in 1975, he took part in the 24 Hours of Daytona in a Daytona Group IV from the American team. He won his class in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1975, with a BMW 2002. It was one of his last races.

Through the “Motorcar Gallery Inc.” dealership in Fort Lauderdale, the car was then acquired in 2005 by a “Zen” Italian Bruna de Bassano del Grappa who got it re-imported in Italy. In 2007, it was acquired by the current owner who sent it directly to Carrozzeria Baccheli & Villa for a full restoration. The upholstery, as well as the carpets, was superbly redone by Maieli. As he then owned a blue Ferrari 275, he chose the gorgeous “Blu Sera Metallizzato” livery while retaining the original colour inside. Issued following the restoration in 2009, the Ferrari Classiche certificate demonstrates that the car has all its original numbers, the same as when it left the factory. This is a remarkable example, kept in a heated garage in Monaco and serviced by Didier Passaglia, a specialist in Italian V12 engines.

Once owned by a NART racing driver and the Filipinetti team, as well as its distinguished colour and certification by Ferrari, this sublime Daytona constitutes a rare opportunity to acquire a Daytona with provenance and restored by one of the best Italian specialists.
