- Extremely rare: only 26 left-hand drive models produced
- Exceptional condition, both aesthetically and mechanically
- Only four owners since new, one of whom was Aldo Blaton
- A model of elegance, sophistication and distinction
This car is one of just 26 left-hand drive Bentley S3 Continental cabriolet examples produced: a true rarity. Delivered new in Belgium to the Devis family, who own a foundry business, it was fitted with a number of options, including a reinforced chassis and suspension, an extended steering column, additional warning lights and an electric aerial. Alexandre Devis was particularly fond of this car, which he kept for 25 years before selling it to another connoisseur, Aldo Blaton, elder brother of Jean Blaton; a racing driver known by the pseudonym 'Beurlys' and a regular of the Le Mans 24 Hours. While in his possession, the car was restored in 'British Racing Green' and the interior was refinished in burgundy leather by Italian specialist, Luppi.
After Mr Blaton's death, this prestigious car was purchased in 2012 (via specialist Michel Kruch) by Mr Pedro de Azambuja, who registered it in Ireland, while continuing to use it at his Swiss residence in Rougemont, near Gstaad. He had the bodywork repainted in 'Tudor Grey' by Lisbon-based Teves Costa Classics and, in 2018, work (including the fitting of an electronic ignition system) was performed by marque specialist Balmoral Limited, at a total cost of £10,500. The car's current and fourth owner is a Belgian enthusiast.
Bentley reserved the 'Continental' nomenclature for the brand's most exclusive models. Featuring the famous Mulliner Park Ward bodywork known as 'Chinese Eyes' on account of the shape of its headlights, this car combines rarity, elegance, comfort and power. At the time, it was among the most expensive on the market, and today embodies prestige at its most refined. Its future owner will be able to visit Ramatuelle's most popular beaches with elegance, distinction and refinement, while also being able to take part in "Concours d'élégance" competitions if he or she so desires.
