- Prototype of the racing Ducati
- Rare Thome preparation

Although the first twin-cylinder Ducati machine made its appearance in 1971 on the 750 GT, it was following Paul Smart’s victory in Imola in 1972 that the brand extended the desmodromic distribution to the 750 Super Sport, designed by Fabio Taglioni. In 1975, the 750 SS was succeeded by the 900 SS, a radical machine that contributed to the brand’s racing reputation. Known for its hard suspension, its lack of electric starter but capable of delivering insane sensations thanks its excellent road handling and its assertive engine character, it has had a measured evolution until its disappearance from the catalogue in 1982, following a total production of just over 5,000 examples. But its reputation and the legacy it left on Ducati prompted the manufacturer to relaunch a new model bearing its name in 1990.
Purchased in 2016 from an enthusiast in Frankfurt, this particular bike is one of around ten models modified by Moto Thome, Helmut Thome’s German workshop renowned for its preparations. The work done focused mainly on the lubrication system and included a higher flow pump which enhanced its reliability. So reliable and pleasant that its odometer displays a little over 64,000 km. Equipped with BMW indicators at the end of the handlebar and floating Brembo discs, this superb machine will give a lot of motorcycling pleasure to its owner, a machine that perfectly embodies the racing personality of the Bologna brand.
