- Good condition
- First BMW touring motorcycle to reach 200 km/h
- Specific finish for this model
- No reserve
The first BMW touring motorcycle capable of reaching 200 km/h: this is how the R90 S made a statement. It was also the brand’s first one to have a fairing (although modest) and to exceed 750 cc with its 898 cc engine. To further this evolution, it also had a special finish including a tank and degraded fork crown painted by hand. Therefore, the R90 S bikes are not exactly identical to each other.
Purchased in September 2012 in Montpellier, this particular R90 S has a black and “smoked silver” colour that has been redone but is still consistent with the original. With a mileage of 43,511 km, it had several works carried out between 2012 and 2015 which included the starter, the tank, the clock, the voltmeter, Akron rims (with larger rear tyre than the original one) and the electrical system. The Dell-Orto carburettors were equipped with conical air filters to replace the original air box (which will be delivered with the bike) in order to give space for the profiled fairing. It had a major revision at Muscat in December 2014 and in August 2015, a high-engine overhaul. For the sale, the Vattier exhausts pictured in the catalogue will be replaced by the original exhausts.
This R90 S is a tribute to what would be considered as the German brand’s first modern sports bike.
