Released in 1979, this bike was an improved version of the famous 1977 R100RS. It retains its 70 bhp engine, which is round with rich acoustics and offers good acceleration, as well as its chassis. Handling is reliable, even on wet roads, and it features a highly protective fairing designed in a wind tunnel, an adjustable windscreen, air vents, and a host of comfort options. Mechanically, it features improvements to the ignition, distribution, and driveshaft, which is fitted with a hydraulic torsional vibration damper.
The bike on display here has 13,600 km on the clock and is all original. The frame and engine numbers match and the paintwork and seat are also original. It has been well maintained, as evidenced by a file of BMW invoices. The starter, clutch, alternator, and accelerator cable have all been replaced. The waterproofing of the transmission housing has been reworked and the battery has just been replaced. It comes with a pair of Krauser panniers. Now is the time to add this bike to your collection, as many of them have been modified into café racers or other types of bobber.
The motorcycle belongs to an associate of the auction house.
