- Similar design to the sporty Gileras of the 1950s
- Elegant style, rare motorcycle
- Good condition
- No reserve
After World War II, Gilera made a name for itself in motorsport by winning the 500 cc World Championship (the premier class) six times between 1950 and 1957. Faced with a decline in sales largely due to the rise of the automobile, the manufacturer then turned to off-road models before being acquired by Piaggio in 1969.
This particular 1957 150 Sport is therefore one of the last Gilera models to reflect the brand’s sporting heritage. Fitted with a 4-stroke single-cylinder engine with overhead valves, a four-speed gearbox, telescopic fork and oscillating rear suspension, it featured a graceful and elegant design and was able to reach 100 km/h, which was rather impressive for its category.
The example from the Panini collection is in good original condition with its period accessories, such as the speedometer in the headlight and its “approvato Gilera” exhaust. It was previously registered in the Mantua (MN) region. This brilliant little motorcycle carries the genes of the Gilera brand, which at the same time was shining on racing circuits worldwide.
