In England, we don’t mess around with traditions and, after having remained adopters of the “gromono” for a long time, the most prominent British brands then decisively turned towards the vertical twin-cylinder engine with overhead valves. Following Triumph, BSA and Norton, AJS offered its Model 20 in 1948, fitted with a 500 cc twin-cylinder engine. It was replaced eight years later by the Model 30, with a displacement increased to 600 cc; and as for the rest of it, it remained faithful to the technique of its predecessor. Well designed and combined with a telescopic fork, it has an oscillating rear suspension which brings great comfort to this elegant machine with a torquey engine.
Initially registered RE 054151 (Reggio Emilia) and now bearing the number MO 0800214 (Modena), this particular example is in good condition with well-preserved paint and quality chrome. Beautifully authentic with its Amal carburettor, its Smiths km/h speedometer, its Lucas ammeter and its Italian Fiamm horn, it has complete accessories and after a standard service, its new owner will be able to enjoy the virile and exhilarating sound of its beautiful twin-cylinder engine.
