- Original engine (“matching numbers”)
- Fully restored by specialists
- Eligible for major historic events, such as the Mille Miglia
This magnificent Porsche 356 Pre A stands out for still being equipped with its original engine, which is extremely rare for this model. Delivered on the 8th May 1954 to the Glocker dealership in Frankfurt, it was in “Turkisch Rot” colour, with faux leather and velvet seats as well as a speedometer in miles. Its engine was the Type 506 of 1,300 cc, as evidenced by a certificate from Porsche Bietigheim, Stuttgart.
Once purchased by its current owner, it was restored to its original specifications, with only the presentation being changed to a black paint finish and cognac leather upholstery. The bodywork was entrusted to Karl Schaefer and his workshop called Classic Boxers in Erkrath (Germany), specialised in air-cooled Porsche cars. It was completely stripped down, protected and painted; chrome parts were also redone. The same workshop took care of the interior, restoring the upholstery and dashboard instruments.
The engine was fully dismantled and restored, including the braking system, suspension and the electrical system, with new wiring and a revision of switches and lighting. Photographic documentation attests to the meticulous attention given to these works, ensuring that this car is now presented in flawless condition, one that does justice to the rarity of this important model in the history of the brand.
