In 2002, Porsche entered a sector in which it was not expected to make an appearance: off-road vehicles. And yet, the Stuttgart-based marque has won numerous off-road events, including the Paris-Dakar. Porsche also built a vehicle specifically to provide assistance: a Mercedes 280 G equipped with the V8 engine from the Porsche 928. This efficient Porsche V8-powered G even finished 2nd in the 1985 Pharaons Rally, behind the winning 959!
This Cayenne S is the brainchild of the owner of the 992 Dakar in our sale, a genuine tribute to this assistance vehicle. The first-generation Cayenne was the obvious choice because it is the only vehicle designed as an off-roader, with a low-range gearbox, differential lock and permanent all-wheel drive. The Cayenne S equipped with the 4.5L V8 produces 340 hp and doesn't lag behind! Numerous modifications have been made, including a Front Runner roof rack (equipped with 6 Hella long-range headlights, a spare wheel, jerry cans and a bottle opener), customised Braid off-road wheels fitted with BF Goodrich All Terrain tyres, mechanical suspension (+4cm) and 5 mm aluminium protection for all the underpinnings. The Dakar version of this Cayenne S has 277,000 km on the odometer and an engine with 168,000 km.
The Cayenne S Dakar is a true invitation to escape, making it the ideal companion for adventurers, or to accompany their 992 Dakar!
