A 300bhp 5.5L V12: that's what the 850i offered when it was first released. These figures seemed satisfactory on paper, but faced with the hefty weight of its top-of-the-range coupé, BMW entrusted Motorsport with the noble powertrain, which was subsequently increased to 5.6 litres and 380 bhp, characterising the CSI version offered from 1992.
This 850 CSI with manual gearbox went into production in February 1993 in this rare and sublime Calypso Red (252) colour aimed at the French market. The wealth of standard equipment is further enhanced by the electric sunroof, electrochromatic interior rear-view mirror, alarm, roll-up rear side sunshades, and front sports seats with electric adjustment, memory and heating! First registered in France in May 1993, it was passed on to two French owners in 1997 and 2000, before joining the collection of a Strasbourg enthusiast in 2004. It was then serviced annually by a BMW mechanic and friend of the Strasbourg-based collector. In 2023, a Dutch professional fell in love with this model and purchased it. Its mileage has been tracked by means of invoices, service logs and roadworthiness tests, thus guaranteeing the accuracy of the current and reasonable mileage of less than 84,500 km.
With just 1,510 CSI models produced, not only is this coupé with its seductive feline lines a pleasure to drive, it is also one of the most sought-after BMWs, especially if you find a low mileage model with a host of additional options and a clear history, as is the case here.
Please note that contrary to what is indicated in the paper catalogue, the mileage is less than 84,500 km. Please note that the sunroof is not operational and requires servicing.
