In 1955, Hotchkiss was allowed to produce Jeeps which were strictly identical to the American military model; these were known as the MB and then the M201.

A plate mounted on the dashboard indicates that this example went through the ERGM de la Maltournée, a government establishment whose main role was to rebuild military off-road vehicles. Marc Levy acquired the Jeep in July 1990, at the time he was setting up his architectural practice, and for many years drove it up and down the steep and rugged tracks of the Haut-Var. A decade later, his first novel If Only It Were True was an international success. After going to live in New York, the famous novelist could not bring himself to part with the love of his youth and entrusted the Jeep to the firm Arts et Prototypes in the Paris area for them to store and maintain it. The French collector's registration is still in Marc Levy's name and specifies two seats.

Regularly maintained and started up, this Jeep, with its distinguished provenance, would make a great choice to be used without worrying about damaging the bodywork or a very worthwhile restoration project.

Please note that the car has received an unfavorable technical inspection for traffic light failure, tire damage and loss of fluids.
