- A true classic
A true tribute to its forerunner, the magnificent 300 SL, the SLS adopted the same layout: a two-seat coupé with a front-mounted engine and gullwing doors. Needless to say, its engine had nothing in common with its predecessor's straight-six; it was developed by AMG who fitted their naturally-aspirated 6.3-litre V8 developing 571 bhp at 6800 rpm, with a 0-100 time of 3.8 s and a top speed of 317 kph! With only 5000 units built (4000 coupés and 1000 roadsters), it is already a classic with an exceptional character on the road, offering elegance and performance, not to mention the history it celebrates. What better example than this could you hope to find, since it was bought new by its current owner and supplied by Mercedes-Benz Paris in its current specification? Its owner, the chairman of a major shipping group, is a great lover of beautiful cars, both classic and new. As he travels a great deal, he has had little opportunity to enjoy his SLS, and as a result it has covered only 985 km (on the day we photographed it). The Mercedes service records show that it has been regularly maintained, with the last service this April. It is an exceptional example, with the smell typical of a new car.
Impact on VAT: As the vehicle has been driven less than 6,000 kilometers, it can be considered “as new” for VAT purposes in certain European countries. Please contact your local tax authorities for confirmation prior to purchase. For a French buyer, a VAT of 20% will be charged on the hammer price and the premium.
