The Mustang needs no introduction, other than to mark the 60th anniversary this year of an enduring success, as Ford is still making this legendary model, now in its 7th generation!

A star of TV and cinema, driven by the greatest international actors, Ford’s ‘Pony Car’ was launched in France by the famous ‘Gendarme de Saint-Tropez’, who drove the first Mustang convertible imported into Europe! Produced for the new generation of baby boomers who wanted to set themselves apart from their parents with their imposing Cadillacs and other enormous American cars of the 1950s, more than 10 million examples of the Mustang, counting all models, have been built, showing the success of the galloping pony!

The convertible in our sale left the factory at Metuchen, New Jersey in 1967, equipped with the 289 2V V8 developing 200 bhp. It has some attractive options such as power steering and an electric hood. Our Parisian enthusiast bought the car from Casting Automobiles some ten years ago and had it maintained by his personal mechanic. As soon as he bought it, he wanted to make some improvements to his spirited Pony Car. The exhaust was replaced by a stainless steel one that produces an enthralling sound as the revs climb. The steering was also improved, thanks to an American kit, a steering box which gives the Mustang increased precision and completely transforms its handling. A new radiator was fitted, as well as a large fan and high-flow water pump. The chassis was treated against corrosion and electronic ignition fitted. The white leatherette interior is in good original condition, as is the chromework. The car starts on the first turn of the key and drives very well. This is a fine opportunity to drive an American car, free from excess but still with the sweet sound of Ford’s ever reliable V8.
