It's always hard to follow in the footsteps of a star, but that's exactly what the Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans, the successor to the beautiful V7 Sport, is going to pull off. In the early 70s, competition came from all sides, Europe and Japan, and a mediocre model would simply not cut it. The new Moto Guzzi uses the same longitudinal twin-cylinder engine but with a larger displacement, and retains the same precision and rigidity as its predecessor. It adds an 'integral' braking system where the pedal controls both the front and rear discs (unlike the single rear brake on the vast majority of other motorbikes), with the handle acting on the second front disc. In its initial configuration, the model was fitted with a single fairing and exuded a resolutely sporty personality, which would later evolve into more of a 'grand touring' character.
The bike up for sale is a first version of this model, which has been a great commercial success, selling over 7,000 units. Purchased in 2017 and in a beautiful iridescent blue tone, with 41,923 km on the clock it's in superb condition and pays tribute to one of the best Guzzi's of the 70s.
