A big fan of motorbikes, Patrick Godet stopped in his tracks one day in front of a 1000 Vincent, and from then on his passion for the British firm never left him. He began by modifying the company’s bikes for his own use before embarking on the production of a limited number of special versions developed in his workshop in Normandy. Thanks to their high-quality design and build, Godet received approval from the Vincent family and from Fritz Egli (who had modified the frame of the Vincent to make the bike safer) to use their name. As he himself said, “We were able to take into account the development of new technologies and adapt them to our traditional know-how. Our bikes don’t just have a vintage look, they are built within the rules using materials which are simply more efficient and offer better performance ...” Patrick Godet died too young in 2018, but the bikes which have outlived him are a wonderful testimony to his talent.

The Vincent-Godet Café Racer we are presenting was ordered directly from Godet at the start of the 2000s by a car collector from southern France. Soon after taking delivery and not making use of it, he sold it to one of his friends, François Chevalier, the former director of the Circuit Paul Ricard and a connoisseur of Vincent motorbikes, of which he owned several. After ten or so years, during which he covered about 5000km, Chevalier parted with this lovely bike, which subsequently changed hands several times before it was bought by our client. If we are to believe the letters ‘PG 01’ stamped on two parts of the crankcase, it is one of the first produced by Godet. It has a four-speed gearbox and an electric starter. The 5560km shown on the odometer indicate that this exceptional motorcycle has scarcely been used since Chevalier sold it, and its condition today is close to that when it left Godet’s workshop. It combines the charm of a famous classic bike with the characteristics and safety of a much more modern design.

Please note the French title is in process and will be delivered as soon as possible after the sale to the buyer.
