- An important model in the brand's history
- A wonderful technical achievement
- Magnificent lines, superb condition
- No reserve
After a foray into the military segment, Moto Guzzi decided to return to its more sporting orientation and entrusted the task to Lino Tonti, an engineer whose career had seen him work for Benelli, Mondial, Bianchi, and Gilera. He worked on the push-rod V-twin to squeeze that essential additional horsepower out of it, but first and foremost, he developed a compact, rigid tubular frame that would make a major contribution to the road-holding qualities of the resulting V7 Sport. This low, slender bike, with brakes that were very powerful for its time, was very well received when it was unveiled, especially since it came in bold colours: a red frame and iridescent green tank. This frame colour was reserved for the first 150 examples, with subsequent models adopting a more classic black. As well as being beautiful, the bike was also powerful, and was one of the first touring machines capable of reaching speeds in excess of 200 km/h. What's more, its cardan shaft transmission makes the machine easy to maintain.
The motorbike up for sale here is a replica of the famous 'telaio rosso', painstakingly crafted by mechanical engineering students from Toulouse. The engine is an 850, however, the whole bike is extremely faithful to the original version, with the visual exception of the gearbox, which features the reinforcing ribs of later versions. With just 19 km on the clock, this beautiful creation will give its new owner the visual and driving pleasure of the Moto Guzzi that symbolised the brand's revival in the 1960s.
