- Former 1980 Monte-Carlo Rally
- Vintage racing specification
- Superb restoration
- Rare 1600SC version, the most accomplished one
With only 481 examples produced, the 1600 SC got its rear axle from the A310 and its engine from the R12 Gordini enables it to reach a top speed of 215 km/h! This particular example is exceptional in many ways: first, it left the factory in the extremely rare “Rouge Corail” colour and was registered on the 21st of March 1974. The car was purchased on the 6th of December 1979 by Jacques Verrain who took part in the 1980 Monte-Carlo Rally (under number 120, in group 3) alongside Dominique Thomas. Numerous pictures and documents bear witness to this participation, which was sometimes carried out in challenging conditions and in fact, resulted in retirement. The car changed ownership in June 1980 and then in January 1981 where it was registered in Ain.
During reconnaissance for the 1981 Tour De Corse, its owner went off the road which restricted him from taking the starting line. The latter then kept the 1600 SC but did not race again until 2012, after carrying out a full and meticulous restoration. The car is stunning and still fitted with the original 844-30 engine, the large 365 type gearbox, the short rollbar, the heated windshield and small accessories from when it was racing, including the sticker of the Monte-Carlo 1980. As a major Alpine enthusiast, its current owner bought it in 2012 with an extensive restoration file and has since made sure to keep it in perfect aesthetic and mechanical condition by only using it occasionally. Known as the most successful version, rare and with a documented racing history, this Alpine has remained faithful to its original racing configuration: it is an exceptional vehicle.
