Similarly to the roadster version presented in this same sale, this Mercedes SLR McLaren coupé belonged to a member of the Lyon-based team that was involved in the 'carbon tax scandal', which exploited the flaws in the 'rights to pollute' market in the 2010s. Following the conviction of the owner of this car, which was initially registered in England under a dummy name, it was seized and sold by the courts, at which time the current owner, a collector with a passion for the marque with the three-pointed star, purchased it. The sale took place in December 2015 when the odometer read 21,142 km and the buyer hardly waited any time before entrusting the car two to the Mercedes garage in Saint-Fons (near Lyon) months later, which carried out a very thorough overhaul for which the invoices totalled almost €50,000.

Since then, this supercar has covered just under 1,000 km and has been monitored by the owner's personal mechanic. It will require a routine check before being driven again. Thanks to its low mileage and limited use, it is presented in rare original condition. The beautiful black paintwork (158 Crystal Galaxite) beautifully adorns the long bonnet and slimline cabin, enhanced by the superb 19-inch turbine rims. The side exhausts are a reminder of the sporty nature of this machine, designed in collaboration with McLaren and capable of reaching speeds in excess of 330 km/h, while the sublime red leather interior (L01 Silver Arrow 300SL red) is ready to welcome passengers into a comfortable setting, elegantly finished and refined with its optional two-tone steering wheel.

It seems that the car was originally intended for Berlin, but it has been sold in the UK since 2008. The file contains all the details of the car's maintenance performed by Mercedes prior to being acquired by our collector. With its original provenance and superb condition, this Mercedes SLR McLaren, accompanied by a file documenting its history and maintenance, will allow its new buyer to experience the exhilarating sensations afforded by its exceptional mechanics and performance.
