Norton Manx: a name that resounds like a kick-starter and makes every fan of sporting motorbikes dream. ‘Manx’ refers to the Isle of Man, home to the famous Tourist Trophy, won on several occasions by bikes of this type. Powered by a single-cylinder engine with twin overhead camshafts, the model evolved over time, gaining a ‘Featherbed’ frame and ‘Roadholder’ fork.

After Norton stopped building it, remaining stocks and the remanufacturing of parts allowed some specialists to build Manx bikes again. The Summerfield brothers, in partnership with Bernie Allen, obtained permission from the factory to do so.

The bike in this collection is a rebuild of this type. Bought in England, it has a 715cc engine prepared by Bill Stuart and initially intended for a sidecar rig, developing an estimated 70bhp. Fed by a 38mm Amal carburettor, it is attached to a Newby clutch and mounted in a Featherbed frame. Its current owner took part in demonstrations on track in France with the bike until 2019.

With the large fuel tank characteristic of the Manx models, its saddle with a backrest, impressive single-cylinder engine and megaphone exhaust, this beautifully built machine will enable its owner to experience the amazing feeling of riding a Manx at a more affordable price than for a 100% authentic machine.
