The Rumi 125 cc had elegant lines and a mesmerising sound. With its horizontal two-stroke twin-cylinder engine revving at nearly 6,000 rpm, it was sure to appeal to sports bike enthusiasts. Designed by engineer Pietro Vassena at the request of Donnino Rumi, with the aim of diversifying the production of the'Officine Fonderie Rumi inherited from his father, the Rumi 125 Turismo was first released in 1950. It underwent a number of evolutions, including a Competizione version with a distinctive frame, oscillating rear suspension, and a swing fork in the style of BMW's Earles models. Following on from this bike, which was dedicated to amateur racing, came the more versatile Junior. It's a version of this model that we're offering, and one that reflects the Panini family's obvious passion for the small Italian sports cars of the 50s and 60s. It's in good condition, with a superb fuel tank protected by a cover that invites you to try riding in the prone position, a wrap-around front mudguard, twin carburettors, and a small windscreen. This motorbike was previously registered in the Modena region (MO 47712). This rare machine will delight all fans of small-displacement Italian sports bikes, of which it is a magnificent example.
