Interesting 1962 Series 1

Advanced preparation, FIA form valid until 2032

Barely used since the end of the preparation

Equipped with its original engine, this Series 1 E-Type coupe was purchased in the United States by its Swedish owner with the aim of preparing it for FIA historic racing events. In order to comply with international regulations, preparation work began five years ago and was done on the entire car, starting with the bodywork which was fitted with an aluminium bonnet, doors and rear wings. A roll cage was fitted, as well as Sparco bucket seats and six-point harnesses. Suspensions and brakes were reinforced and the rear axle also included a cooling system. The car now has 6-inch wheels at the front and 7-inch wheels at the back, fitted with suitable Dunlop tyres. A particularly thorough preparation was carried out on the engine.

The original 3.8-litre block was rebored to 4 litres, with a straight-angle cylinder head, balanced crankshaft, FIA exhaust manifold, Wreford intake manifold, Omega pistons, a special lubrication kit, three 45mm Weber carburettors and several racing parts supplied by Rob Beere Racing in England: camshafts, larger valves, valve springs, camshaft damper, Sportsman connecting rods, cylinder head studs, oil pump, flywheel and clutch mechanism. According to the owner, this engine now develops around 300 hp. However, as the car was completed fairly recently, he only used it for one test drive and one sprint race; he now wants to part with it and reduce his fleet of racing cars, due to his age. It will be necessary for the next owner to fine-tune the chassis and running gear settings of the car, in order to set it up in their own preferences. The car was made to perform and its overall aesthetic look (reminiscent of racing cars from that era) can be improved.

For the record, the elegant blue and orange livery of this magnificently prepared E-Type is due to the fact that its owner was a distributor of Gulf products in Sweden. It comes with its FIA Historic Technical Passport valid until 2032 and will be a very serious competitor on the track.
