This Mercedes 190 SL was sold new in Paris, fitted with an optional hard-top, at the beginning of 1957, at the time under the reg number 92 FT 75. Its first owner, Armand Thiéry, on behalf of his clothing company Thiéry Ainé, which became the famous Armand Thiéry firm in 1963, chose a 'White Grey' colour with a black leather interior and an optional Becker 'Le Mans' car radio. In 1960, the 190 SL passed into the hands of the famous writer Guy des Cars, who a few months later transferred it to the name of his secretary, before recovering it on October 19, 1961. The car was purchased in 1962 by Jean Mousselle and his wife Lydie. Jean Mousselle had worked as a cameraman for Jacques Tati, most notably on the film 'Jour de fête', before becoming a director, while his wife was a script supervisor on the same film. This car remained with them throughout their lives, which they dedicated to the cinema, before being bought by Lydie's brother in 2000. The car has since been carefully preserved within the family, as has the extensive file of invoices dating back to the 1960s, which testifies to regular check-ups at Mercedes. Among the documents accompanying the car are the receipt for its purchase in 1962, a letter from Jean Mousselle to Mercedes Stuttgart in 1984 asking whether the car could be fully serviced by them, the original French owner's manual, and an expert report dated August 2024. This car has never been taken off the road and has been repainted in the past, however, the bodywork is original, as is the leather upholstery. In 2000, the engine was restored and, more recently, the soft top. Our test drive revealed a car in good working order, well tuned and pleasant to drive, as is typical of cars that have never been dismantled. Its rare patina reflects its history: it accompanied a couple on all of their cinematic adventures over the course of several decades and has always been attentively looked after. Still accompanied by its hard-top, this car is in stunning condition.
Please note that the car is sold without the French technical inspection.
