- Excellent original condition
- First production model to feature a full fairing
- Superb grand tourer
- No reserve
When it was unveiled, the BMW R100 RS surprised the motorcycling world with its full fairing - a first for a modern motorbike. This was all the more surprising given that the trim was an integral part of the machine and not just an add-on. Its elegant lines had been designed by Hans A. Muth and extensively wind-tunnel tested, providing a well-protected, relaxing ride and producing a top speed of 200 km/h. The traditional twin-cylinder engine had a 980 cc cylinder capacity, producing 70 bhp, and the finish was up to the high standards of the range, with a full set of equipment including a clock and voltmeter well protected behind the bubble fairing. Well-designed, reliable, and hard-wearing, this model was voted 'Motorcycle of the Year' and was a huge commercial success, selling over 33,600 units between 1976 and 1984.
The bike on offer here is in excellent original condition, in a beautiful metallic grey colour with blue pinstripes. This is a rare first version, with the same blue pinstripes on the spoked wheels and blue ATE brake callipers. Accompanied by a two-seater saddle, which was supplied at no extra cost, it is also equipped with large Krauser cases, in impeccable condition. With 36,193 km on the clock, this particularly well-preserved BMW R100 RS is sure to give its new owner the pleasure of a pleasant, easy-to-use motorbike that barely shows its age.
