- Superb show-car initially exhibited by Lotus Cars
- From the “Renault Icons” collection
- Showcasing Vitaly Petrov’s 2011 single-seater
- Based on a spare chassis from the 2011 season
Coming from the “Renault Icons” collection, this amazing Lotus Renault single-seater is part of this Artcurial auction sale thanks to its official partnership with Renault. Entering the collection in 2016 after being used by Lotus, it is an exhibition car and, according to information provided by Tim Baston (member of the Lotus technical team and “show cars” specialist), it was prepared based on the spare chassis from R23 season, driven by Alan McNish and present at several Grand Prix events: Australia, Malaysia, Brazil, Italy, Spain, Austria and Monaco. This car does not have an engine but contains some original parts such as its gearbox housing and pedal system; it was prepared based on the single-seater model that was used during the same season by Vitaly Petrov and with the same livery. It has a “RFI Showcar 027” plate.
With its removable steering wheel including indicators, controls and dummy paddles, this is a production of high quality. The black and gold livery gorgeously dresses the slender silhouette of this single-seater; its aerodynamic attributes and carbon parts exemplify the pinnacle of technical sophistication of that era, while the distinctive red colours of Total added to the car gives it a touch of fantasy. This is a very beautiful machine, ideal for exhibition hall or to complete a collection of Lotus Renault sports cars or racing single-seaters.
