The Universes of the Ritz Paris

On September 25th, 26th, and 27th, Artcurial will auction a selection of nearly 1,500 lots showcasing the richness and eclecticism of The Universes of the Ritz Paris, inviting participants to share a piece of this legendary place that embodies the art of French living.

Nearly 1,500 lots up for auction

Since its creation, the Ritz Paris has continually reinvented itself to charm, surprise, and delight the world. The Ritz Paris embodies the art of French living. Festive, cosmopolitan, and elegant, it continues to write its history with its guests. Enthusiasts and collectors will have the opportunity to acquire a piece of this history at Artcurial with this catalogue spanning over 125 years.

In this array of universes with unique atmospheres, the myths of today and yesterday coexist. The intimacy of the Hemingway Bar resonates with the crystal of engraved glasses; among tufted leather and sepia light, time passes to the rhythm of cocktails and conversations. The “Soleil de Minuit” of the “Ritz Club” service created by Jean Boggio radiates with a thousand lights, celebrating festivities. Soft music escapes from the azure-mosaic pool, and the elegant spa furniture invites a timeless moment of relaxation. From the place Vendôme façade to the garden’s lime trees, the legend continues. Artcurial invites you on a journey through the Universes of the Ritz Paris during the auctions on the 25th, 26th, and 27th of September. These sessions will be preceded by a public exhibition of a selection of lots in the salons of the Hôtel Marcel Dassault on Saturday the 21st, Monday the 23rd, and Tuesday the 24th of September 2024.

125 years of the Ritz Paris history through 5 tableware sets

The “Camaïeu Vert” and “Camaïeu Pourpre” services
The “Camaïeu Vert” and “Camaïeu Pourpre” sets, created by Haviland, were introduced to the hotel in 1956, the year the restaurant L'Espadon was opened by Charles Ritz. The floral designs are a tribute from Charles Ritz to his mother, Marie-Louise. Head of the hotel from 1913 to 1953, this forward-thinking woman had a passion for flowers, which she integrated within the hotel. Edelweiss, her favourite, can be found in some of the designs of these sets.

The “Impérial” service

The “Impérial” service, created by Haviland in 2016 for the reopening of the Ritz Paris, is inspired by the draperies of the most prestigious suite at the Ritz Paris, the Impériale Suite. Its golden decor harmonizes with the woodwork and richly decorated furniture that make the Ritz Paris's most majestic suite a true gem.

The « Ritz Club » service

Open from 1990 to 2012, the Ritz Club was a legendary venue known for its festive spirit. The eponymous service, created by Jean Boggio for Haviland, depicts the "Soleil de Minuit” (Midnight Sun) whose golden rays illuminate the milky whiteness of fine kaolin. Featured in the sale in red and white variations, it evokes the warmth, elegance, and conviviality of the place.
