To celebrate the centenary of the Jardin Majorelle, Artcurial will present two major rediscoveries by Jacques Majorelle at its upcoming sale, A Moroccan Winter, on 30th December at La Mamounia in Marrakech: the only modello known to date for the artwork L'Aouache à Télouet and Bijoux Berbères, a masterpiece from the sumptuous 'Nus Noirs' series.

As a leader in this specialty since 2011, Artcurial has achieved more than 45 world records and the highest auction results for works by Jacques Majorelle and Etienne Dinet.

For the 6th edition of A Moroccan Winter, bid on an exceptional selection of artworks, exhibited from 27th December at La Mamounia, Marrakech.

Among the works on sale will be the only known modello of L'Aouache à Télouet (400 × 360 cm), previously kept in the Casablanca City Hall and now housed at the Museum of Intangible Heritage Jamaâ El Fna.

As well as the masterpiece Bijoux Berbères from the series of Black Nudes in which the artist depicts sumptuous Black women set against fabrics or in the gardens of the painter’s villa. 

Since their respective purchases in 1937 and 1933, these two works have been kept by descent in the families of the current owners.
