- Superb desmodromic engine from the 900 SS
- Less radical than the SS
- Highly satisfactory condition
- No reserve
After the 860 GT’s failure, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro which adopted a more conservative personality than the Sport versions, Ducati rectified the situation by launching the SD Darmah in 1977, this time with a design entrusted to Leopoldo Tartarini. This new motorbike took its name from the tiger of the privateer Sandokan who had great fame at that time in Italy in a television series, which explains the presence of a tiger’s head on the sides of the bike. It was equipped with the twin-cylinder engine with desmodromic distribution of the 900 SS, a Bosch electronic ignition, a steering damper and Brembo brakes. “The GTS design was a bit disappointing for enthusiasts of the brand and the overly typical SS put off some others, this Darmah seems to be a happy medium capable of reconciling both” concluded Paul Salvaire in Moto Journal after a road test, which sums up the personality of this bike well: plenty of character but more usable than the SS.
Purchased in March 2014 in Brive, this particular Darmah has a mileage of 36,453 km, as well as an elegant black and gold finish enhanced by magnesium rims. The mirrors are not original and the tiger head stickers will be provided separately. This bike has had work done on the seat, lighter parts, starter, clutch, fork tubes, brake lines and paint. In very good condition, it will provide its new owner the pleasantness of an engine with a strong personality, in a less radical package than the sportiest Ducati bikes.
