- Developed by AMG with specific motorsport techniques
- 21,800 km, beautiful original condition
- Legendary model, only 100 convertible examples
- One of the most iconic Mercedes, all generations combined
Despite a relatively trivial exterior (but with impressive wing extensions and rear wing which will not make any connoisseur indifferent), this car is in reality a real bomb, thanks to its supercharged 5.4-litre V8 engine from racing and developing 580 hp. Launched in coupe version to celebrate Mercedes’ overwhelming success in 2003 in the DTM championship (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters), this car became available as a convertible with a production limited to around 100 examples for each version. The design of this car is just as impressive as its engine: most equipment of comfort are gone and many of its trims are made of carbon, including the superb sports seats. On the centre console, the gear lever guidance plate states “One out of 100”, reminiscent of the number of examples produced; a small chrome plate shows the various controls, including the one for the electric convertible top. The only signs of comfort noticeable are the multimedia equipment and electric windows.
With its four buttons, the small steering wheel in Alcantara conveys its motorsport pedigree, the same with its pedals and footrests. At the back, passenger seats are simple cushions placed directly on the carbon structure. But the most amazing part is the fact that this set is faithful to the usual Mercedes level of finish, with quality materials and flawless adjustments. Despite its low production, this car has also been well thought of and manufactured as a production model. We had the opportunity to get behind the wheel of this exceptional machine and the sound of the V8 engine, which roars like a racing engine, captivated us.
This CLK DTM was delivered new in February 2006, before being exported to South Korea where it was exhibited in a museum. It then returned to its country of origin and on the 31st March 2016, it had a full service carried out at Mercedes Eberach when the mileage was at 19,471 km. Shortly after, it was acquired by our collector and has not been driven much since. A follow-up servicing was done by Mercedes and by the owner’s personal mechanic, a service was carried out in 2021 when the mileage was at 21,575 km; then, the car recently had a check and a standard service at Mercedes in 2024.
Impressive in its appearance, finish, performance and condition, this car also includes its user manuals and its specific service logbook. This is probably the only CLK DTM convertible registered in France. Extremely rare on the market, it will offer its new owner extraordinary sensations as well as unrivalled exclusivity.
