This Ferrari 250 GT Lusso, in ‘Grigio Argento’ with a ‘Pelle Rossa’ interior, left the factory in August 1963 for delivery to the official dealer Gastone Crepaldi Automobili in Milan, before being imported into the USA in 1964 by Luigi Chinetti Motors in New York. It was then bought by Russell Torge from Manhattan Beach in California, who had work done on the engine and clutch before selling it in 1974 to Donald Kellog from Salinas, also in California. Kellog kept the car until 1979, and from 1985 to September 1987, it was owned by Michael E. Henry from Burbank, with the registered as 099 HNI.

In April 1988, it returned to Europe, where it was bought by Tiziano Carugati Automobiles in Geneva, who promptly sold it to Herr Imholz, the owner of a travel agency in Switzerland.

On 19 September 1989, with the odometer reading 8,398 km, the car was overhauled at Imholz’ request by the Foitek garage in Zurich, with the final bill amounting to 83,019 Swiss francs. Further work was invoiced for 41,160 Swiss francs on 21 June 1990, at 8409km.

In June 1998, the car was sold to Tiziano Carugati Automobiles and registered in Alexandra Carugati’s name with the number GE 270073.

In August 1998, Tiziano Carugati entered it in the Chopard Concours d’Elégance in Geneva as number 27 and it won first prize in its class. On 6 April 1999, it was registered in the name of M. Salvoretti from Cologny (a suburb of Geneva) with the number GE 418886.

In October 1999, Tiziano Carugati sold it to M. Dunand, a resident of Geneva, who registered it as GE 500099. Following a series of mechanical jobs carried out at the start of 2000 by Edgar Jean-Mairet’s Atelier Sport & GT, Albert Cailler Restauration and Fiat Auto, it was re-registered on 11 August 2000 in the name of Dunand’s company in Geneva, keeping the same number.

At the start of 2002, with the aim of taking part in the prestigious Rallye International des Alpes, Dunand requested a FIVA passport, and following an inspection of the car by M. Corbat on behalf of the federation, this was issued on 21 June 2002. The car took part in the rally with the number 841, driven by Dunand, with Louis-Charles Bonvin as his co-driver.

From 2002–2012, several bills show the car was regularly maintained and presented for its safety inspections, as can be seen from the increase in its recorded mileage: 14,550km on 5 November 2002, 16,453km on 7 September 2005, 17,583km on 31 August 2007 and 18,002km on 23 November 2007, indicating the sparing use made of it.

On 30 May 2012, with the odometer reading 19,222km, it was offered for sale by Carugati Automobiles and then entered the ‘Silver Collection’, of which it is one of the centrepieces.

On 9 April 2013, this splendid Ferrari 250 GT Lusso received its Ferrari Classiche certification, together with the precious ‘Red Book’, and this confirms that the engine and gearbox are original, as is the body, which has never been repaired or rebuilt. It therefore has impeccable original integrity.

The car currently has black upholstery, which was fitted a long time ago and has an attractive patina. Thanks to Marcel Massini, it comes with an impressive file of invoices since the 1990s, which attest to its regular maintenance. On top of this rare and sought-after model’s exceptional styling and engineering, this example boasts immaculate condition, unquestionable authenticity and continuous history, which will not be lost on connoisseurs.
