- Genuine BMW 635 prepared in period for the Paco Rabanne racing team
- Excellent condition, well presented
- Proven record in Peter Auto historic racing
- Still has its period Motorsport bodyshell
This car is one of the two BMW 635s prepared by the Bodart workshop for the Paco Rabanne team to compete in the Production Championship at the start of the 1980s. Racing at the time with the number 39 and with a great-looking livery from the top fashion designer, it was driven by Claude Ballot-Léna, Thierry Sabine and Thierry Boutsen. It had a genuine Motorsport bodyshell, no. 5371/146/11, bought at the time by Gérard Bleynie’s BMW Mirabeau garage, which looked after the maintenance of the two cars during the 1983 and 1984 seasons of the Production Championship.
In 1985, the car was bought by Noël Dupas, who took part in the Championship from 1985–1989, after which it stopped racing and was put into storage.
It emerged from its slumber in 2015, when it was bought by Charly Cauchois, a leading competitor in historic racing, who completely restored the car to Group A specification, allowing him to finish as runner-up in the 2016 Hill Climb Championship and to win the category the following year.
The BMW was then bought by a fan of competition BMWs and a regular in Peter Auto’s events, in which he competed with a CSL and this 635, achieving several podium finishes with it in 2023 and 2024. A formidable competitor in Group A, it is ideally suited to races such as the Heritage Touring Cup series.
The engine is virtually new, as it has recently been rebuilt and has only competed in two events since. Its power was dyno-tested at 300bhp at 7000rpm in March 2024. As well as its FIA passport no. F8061, valid until 31/12/2033, the car will be sold with four BBS wheels with new tyres.
With a magnificent paint job today depicting technical drawings, this well- prepared and scrupulously maintained car is in excellent condition and ready to race. Well known to Peter Auto and eligible for many historic events, it is ideal for drivers looking for a car with a rich history which will take them to the top of the podium.
