Compared to the original S1 model, the Bentley S2 and S3 models enjoyed the huge progress marked by their new 6.2-litre V8 engine, which replaced the old inline six. Externally, the radiator of the S3 flanked by four headlamps brought a touch of modernity to the tall and imposing body. For customers looking for a sportier model, there was the Continental, whose bodywork was produced by craftsmen in specialised workshops; as well as having a more stylish appearance, it was made from aluminium, which improved the performance of this extremely luxurious car. The S3 was, moreover, the very last model to receive this special treatment, and the Bentleys that followed were supplied with standard bodies.

The S3 Continental we are offering for sale is one of only eight right-hand-drive cars built by H.J. Mulliner. Delivered new in December 1962 to the firm Strauss Turnbull & Co., it was registered 900 EYN by its first owner, who kept it until September 2012, when it was purchased in England by its last-but-one owner from Cheshire Classic Cars. Work was then carried out on it at a cost of more than 20,000 €, including a major overhaul in 2021 in Belgium for nearly 10,000 €. The current owner has had a full service carried out and the carburettors rebuilt, at a cost of more than 1400 €. The Bentley comes with an extensive file containing numerous bills, an original owner’s manual and old registration documents.

Its burgundy red paintwork splendidly accentuates its elegant, flowing bodywork, one of the most attractive and exclusive designs to grace this chassis. The interior is a match for its magnificent exterior, with beige leather upholstery and immaculate woodwork. This exclusive car combines the luxury and comfort of one of the most expensive models of its time with the elegance and rarity of a coachbuilt model. Characteristics which will not go unnoticed by connoisseurs.
