- One owner, ‘garage find’
- Incredible original condition, original engine
- Desirable Series 1 coupé
- No reserve
Just when you think it’s impossible ... one day, as if it is emerging from a time machine, a car that is over 60 years old comes out of its garage, in original condition. And not just any car, but a 3.8-litre Series 1 E-Type coupé, still with its first owner. A young doctor at the time, he originally bought the E-Type to drive between Paris and his clinic in Tours. In the early 1960s, he even went to Morocco to see his grandparents in Meknes, where he had a minor prang after forgetting to apply the handbrake when he parked the car on a slope ... An invoice from a body shop in Morocco serves as a reminder!
Other cars took the place of the E-Type for everyday use, but rather than sell it, the owner put it into storage in 1972 in the property he had bought in the Vexin; the last tax sticker is from 1973. In the mid-1980s, he had work done on the car so that he could drive it again, as can be seen from several bills from the time. But by the end of the 1990s, it was used only on the paths around the property, to allow his grandchildren to get their first taste of driving.
With 26,285km on the clock (which may correspond to 126,285km) and with its original engine, this E-Type exhibits the authenticity and integrity that are the dream of every lover of old cars. It has always kept the same registration, the Parisian number 4119 ND 75. Inside, everything appears complete and original: its red leather seats, the covering of the load area, door cards, dashboard, centre console and wood-rimmed steering wheel ... Admittedly, the whole car will need to be restored, but it is an ideal basis from which to start. With one owner, in virtually untouched original condition, this car is a rare discovery, which should touch the hearts of the most blasé of enthusiasts.
