The WLA is undoubtedly one of the best-known Harley-Davidsons in Europe, having landed there with the American army at the end of the Second World War, with some 80,000 units produced as part of the war effort. Outperformed by the Jeep on difficult terrain, it was used mainly for liaison missions and by the Military Police (MP). Based on the extremely robust civilian WL of the 1930s, it uses the 45 ci (737 cc) side-valve V-twin engine in a rigid frame with parallelogram forks.

The WLA on offer here is in a good state of preservation in its military presentation with its khaki green paintwork, the American star on the tank, its leather rifle rack, its high windscreen with canvas protection, its two rear lights, and its camouflage front headlight. A true brand classic, it symbolised the liberation of occupied countries, while reflecting the American approach to motorcycle design, which was far removed from what European users were familiar with. In this respect, it is a milestone that can only enrich any collection of motorcycles or military equipment.
