Alongside its 125, 350 and 500 models, in 1953 MV Agusta presented a new four-stroke overhead-cam 175. As well as the road version, the company offered a sportier model with some mechanical improvements and a special fuel tank which was very flared at the bottom, earning it the nickname ‘Disco Volante’ (Flying Saucer).

These models were very successful with amateur riders who used them for weekend races, then much in vogue. Even a rider like Derek Minter made his mark at the start of his career in the saddle of a bike like this.

The bike from the collection has the Disco Volante’s handsome flared fuel tank and a telescopic front fork corresponding to the touring version. The whole bike presents very well, except for the saddle, which has marked signs of wear. This machine will bring great pleasure to a lover of historic demonstrations on track.
