- Old restoration, extraordinary green colour
- Engine from a 912 developing 90 hp
- Front disc brake conversion
- Legendary model
This gorgeous 356 Speedster was first registered on the 1st July 1956. It reappears in the early 2000s around the probable time of its restoration, which is now beautifully patinated. At a certain point, mechanical parts were replaced by more modern ones, making it easier to use in modern traffic. As a result, it is now fitted with a 4-cylinder Type 616/39 engine from a 1965 Porsche 912 (1,600 of 90 hp, very close to the one on the 356 C), a gearbox also from a 912 and front disc brakes from a 356 C. Aside from these modifications, this car was beautifully restored to its original presentation with its low windscreen, its minimalist beige hood and its removable lateral protections in the same colour. It features an exquisite paint job in a very unique green colour, beautifully crafted beige upholstery with the model’s typical bucket seats; and the more powerful engine which enhances the driving experience, making it more enjoyable for regular use. The car was barely driven in recent years and was purchased by the current owner as part of the inheritance of its previous owner.
Accompanied by a jack and a tool kit, this rare Speedster version retains the look that made it legendary, which will open doors to the best classic car rallies. It’s worth mentioning that this version was initially proposed by the U.S. importer Max Hoffman, who wanted a simple and affordable roadster for his customers, capable of participating at weekend racing events. The result exceeded expectations and the Speedster’s success back then has now been passed onto collectors who have made this model one of the most sought-after ones in the 356 series.
