The successor to the V7 Sport, the first Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans of 1976 featured a frame designed by Lino Tonti and the longitudinal V-twin introduced by the brand in the early 1960s. Well received by the public, in1984 the model evolved in into the 1000 Le Mans version, with a personality that was more road-oriented rather than purely sports focussed, thanks to an engine with enhanced length and a more aerodynamic fairing, developed in the wind tunnel. Several series followed, each with its own improvements, culminating in the release of the Le Mans V in 1988. However, the model eventually began showing its age, and difficulties complying with the new anti-pollution regulations led to its discontinuation. Before his death, Moto Guzzi decided to offer a limited edition of 100 models, called the "Ultima Edizione".
This is the version we have on offer here. This bike was purchased in June 2015 from Axel Mellerin, of Moto Magazine, and is number 67 in the 100 Ultima Edizione series, as evidenced by the plaque attached to the fairing. With 24,947 km on the clock, it is in good original condition and has clearly been meticulously maintained, providing an opportunity to acquire the most exclusive version of this great classic.
