This Mercedes 190 SL stands out from the crowd on account of its absolutely splendid condition. After spending the first part of its life in France and then Belgium, it returned to Amiens in France in 2007. It was purchased in 2013 by its current owner who, wanting a car that was in flawless condition, entrusted its restoration to his personal mechanic, with no limits as to the cost or hours spent. He then oversaw the most detailed of restorations, turning to various trade specialists for assistance: the bodywork was stripped bare and the most damaged parts were replaced. It was then entrusted to a paint technician from the Annecy region who spent over 200 hours on the job, achieving an impeccable result. The mechanics (engine, gearbox, transmission) were also restored prior to reassembly. The engine has been fitted with two new, original Solex carburettors, the only departure from the original specification being the electronic ignition. Since the work was carried out, the car has covered fewer than 1,000 km and is in truly astonishing condition: the engine compartment looks as good as new, the red leather interior is magnificent, as is the painted sheet metal dashboard with its chrome-rimmed dials and the Becker Europa car radio. It's hard to find anything to complain about, and the same is true of the exterior, where the metallic grey paint has been applied with great care. Sold with a folder of photos of the restoration, invoices, a service manual and an unrestored hardtop, this 190 SL is ideal for those looking for an example that has been restored with discipline and passion.
