On December 16, 2024, Artcurial created a historical moment by organizing, for the first time, an auction of writings and personal memorabilia of General de Gaulle, from the estate of his son, Admiral Philippe de Gaulle. Directed by Stéphane Aubert, the sale achieved €5.6 million, including fees, with part of the proceeds destined for the Anne de Gaulle Foundation. This auction, marked by total success with 100% of lots sold, also drew the attention of major French public institutions. These institutions made 135 preemptions and acquisitions, including those of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Armed Forces, Bibliothèque national français, Archives Nationales, Musée de l’Armée and Musée de l’ordre de la Libération.
With over 200 attendees in the room, 1,500 registered bidders online, and an average of 300 YouTube viewers watching the live stream, the auction achieved an extraordinary level of engagement. Following a 10-day exhibition at the Hôtel Marcel Dassault, which attracted 5,000 visitors the sale proceeded uninterrupted for eight hours, highlighting the importance of this historic sale.
