On 16 May 2024, Artcurial achieved a new world auction record for a work by Hopare at the sale benefiting PSG for Communities and Naked Heart France. The auction raised over 1.8 million euros for the Foundations.
For several years, Artcurial has been happy to partner with the Paris Saint-Germain endowment fund for its annual charity sale during the gala of the famous Parisian club. The evening was a resounding success, with a total of 2.7 million euros raised for the Foundations, including the sale of tables, various donations and the auction, which raised 1.8 million euros. The proceeds will go towards funding the work of PSG for Communities, including the construction of a Red & Blue School at the Necker hospital for children in Paris, and Naked Heart France, which aims to improve the quality of life of autistic children and their families.
Under the hammer of Arnaud Oliveux, auctioneer and specialist in Urban and Contemporary Art, the evening was marked by an exceptional bid on the artwork "O Re" by urban artist Hopare. This unique piece sparked fierce competition among 6 bidders, resulting in a final showdown between two club stars, Achraf Hakimi and Kylian Mbappé, with the latter winning for a record-breaking 520,000 euros.
With this sale, Artcurial sets a new world record for a Hopare artwork sold at auction, reaffirming its role as a pioneer in the promotion and advocacy of urban art.
