On February 11th and 12th, under the hammer of Matthieu Fournier, Artcurial’s Old Masters & 19th Century Art department held two auctions, reaching a total of €2,759,534. On Tuesday, February 11th, Artcurial presented the entire collection of drawings, paintings, and manuscripts from Gérard Lévy’s personal collection, unveiling a lesser-known facet of his passion for Symbolism and Art Nouveau. This exceptional sale achieved €1,591,393, with 90% of lots sold.

The sale was marked by three preemptions, including one by the Bibliothèque nationale de France. Among the standout pieces, Lucien Lévy-Dhurmer’s pastel La Bourrasque sold for €183,680, while Edgard Maxence’s Profil au paon found a buyer for €131,200. L’Iris by Alphonse Mucha was acquired for €104,960, and Paul Andrez’s trompe-l'œil masterpiece La Belle au Kimono sold for €78,720. Spleen et Idéal, inspired by Baudelaire’s Les Fleurs du Mal, achieved €74,784.

On Wednesday, February 12th, the second auction dedicated to Old Masters and 19th-century art totaled €1,168,141, including €560,158 from the former collection of Jacques and Michèle Ginepro, a passionate couple from Monaco. Among the standout artworks, a view of Dieppe’s port by Eugène Boudin achieved €124,640. Works by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux all surpassed their high estimates, while Gustav Adolf Mossa’s painting Ève tentée was sold for €48,544.
