Among these treasures, two surrealist works by René Magritte and Salvador Dalí stand out. They captivate the soul with their profound mystery. Magritte's "The Trace of Memory" plunges us into the intricacies of the human mind, exploring the blurred boundaries between reality and illusion.
On the other end of the spectrum, Dalí’s “Solitude paranoïaque-critique” emanates from a universe where dream and reality merge in a fascinating whirlwind. This piece, once cherished by collector Edward James, skillfully employs the concept of double images to immerse us in a hypnotic world, where every detail invites wonder.
René Magritte (1898-1967)
Les cicatrices de la mémoire, 1926-27
Estimate: CHF1,500,000 - 2,000,000
Salvador Dalí (1904-1989)
Solitude paranoïaque-critique, 1935
Estimate: CHF1,500,000 - 2,000,000
In addition to these undisputed masterpieces, the auction reserves a special place for Belgian artists. Paul Delvaux, with his tender “Petite fille”, Jef Verheyen, and the enchanting sculpture of Jean-Michel Folon, offer a captivating journey through the landscapes of imagination.
Finally, a set of four artworks by Alberto Magnelli, including “La lampe et le pichet” from 1913, transports us to a decisive period in his work, where each brushstroke is a declaration of artistic independence.
