Il fait des études d'art à Strasbourg en 1974 puis déménage à Toulouse en 1978 où il intègre l'école des Beaux-Arts. Artiste polymorphe, il est, dans les années 70, le co-fondateur du label rock indépendant " Réflexes " aux côtés de Jean-Francois Bizot. Grand ami de Thierry Mugler, autre alsacien rencontré en 1972, il est son assistant personnel pendant plusieurs années. Il se consacre entièrement à la peinture à la fin des années 80. Les années 2000 seront marquées par l'arrivée des animaux dans son oeuvre. Les réflexions sur l'innocence ou la société passent désormais par la représentation d'animaux souvent maltraités, exploités ou en voie d'extinction comme les éléphants pour leurs défenses ou les rhinocéros pour leurs cornes. Thierry Bisch n'est pas un peintre animalier, encore moins un naturaliste. La représentation de l'animal est abordée de façon anthropomorphique. Il choisit ses animaux par rapport à l'empathie et l'inclinaison personnelle ressentie à leur égard, sans symbolique particulière. Cet été 2016, Thierry Bisch présentera une grande campagne de sensibilisation "DELETE?" à l'occasion du dixième anniversaire de la Fondation Prince Albert II de Monaco, très engagée dans la préservation de la biodiversité et de ses espèces les plus emblématiques. Seront présentés dans tout Monaco jusqu'à la fin du mois d'août 2016, des bâches, des murs peints et des projections, réalisés à partir de toiles de l'artiste, dédiés à vingt animaux en voie d'extinction. L'ensemble de ces vingt tableaux fait l'objet d'une exposition itinérante dans différents lieux emblématiques de la Principauté. Les œuvres seront exposées et vendues à partir du 29 juin 2016, à l'Opera Gallery Monaco, 1 avenue Henri Durant. "Je peins des animaux depuis des décennies et certains de mes modèles sont en voie d'extinctions, là sous mes yeux. J'ai donc décidé de vous les montrer et de vous poser la même question: Delete? … La réponse est dans vos mains." Thierry Bisch is a French artist, born in Strasbourg in 1953. Reflections on innocence or society now pass by the representation of often abused, exploited or endangered animals, such as the elephants for their tusks or rhinoceros for their horns. Thierry Bisch is not an animal painter, even less a naturalist. The representation of the animal is addressed from an anthropomorphic perspective. He selects his animal subject in relation to his empathy and personal inclination towards them, without any particular symbolism. This summer 2016, Thierry Bisch will present a major awareness campaign named "DELETE?" to mark the tenth anniversary of the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, very committed to the preservation of biodiversity and its most emblematic species. Tarpaulins, painted walls and projections, made from paintings by the artist and dedicated to twenty endangered animals will be presented in Monaco until the end of the month of August 2016. The ensemble of these twenty paintings is the subject of a traveling exhibition in different emblematic places in the Principality. The works will be exhibited and sold from 29th June 2016, at Opera Gallery Monaco, 1 Avenue Henri Durant. "I have painted animals for decades and some of my models are facing extinction, right under my nose. I have therefore decided to show them to you and ask you the same question: Delete? … the answer is in your hands."
