A Louis XVI gilt-varnish cartel d'applique, the dial signed by Claude Autray
Un cartel d'applique du même modèle, le cadran signé par Jean Berton, s'est vendu chez Artcurial, le 20 avril 2016, lot 155.
CONDITION REPORT :
Good overall condition despite the inevitable wears and marks in accordance with age and use. A few minor cracks to the dial's enamel. Bronzes have been regilt. Wears to the gilding which is tarnished and warn in places. The covered urn decorating the upper area of the cartel is loose and detached itself from the main body of the cartel ; it would benefit from strengthening. One firing crack to the body of the upper urn. One of the pine shaped ornaments decorating the upper area of the cartel is later. Fitted with pendulum and key. Please note that we do not guarantee the working order of the movement.
