En plus du caractère révolutionnaire de la DS, la version cabriolet ajoute une pointe d'exotisme et surtout l'incroyable agrément d'une carrosserie découvrable à quatre vraies places. Lorsqu'il est présenté au public, en 1961, le cabriolet DS coûte deux fois le prix de la berline, ce qui en dit long sur le soin apporté à la finition. A l'époque, sa fabrication est confiée aux ateliers Henri Chapron, à Levallois, qui produit parallèlement ses propres modèles dotés d'appellations de son crû. Le cabriolet reçoit les améliorations apportées à la DS de série et c'est ainsi que, en 1965, il est décliné en version DS 21, avec un nouveau moteur 2 175 cm3 qui développe 109 ch: une mécanique qui est à la hauteur de son comportement routier exceptionnel, qui réussit à marier un confort de haut niveau avec une tenue de roue irréprochable.

Livré neuf dans les Alpes-Maritimes, ce cabriolet DS 21 M a été immatriculé pour la première fois le 16 mai 1966 (la lettre M correspondant à boîte manuelle). Le vendeur actuel en est le troisième propriétaire depuis 17 ans, et il lui a fait bénéficier d'une restauration complète dans ses propres ateliers. La caisse a été mise à nu, les longerons ont été remplacés, la carrosserie a été restaurée et repeinte en reprenant sa teinte d'origine. La mécanique a eu droit aussi à une cure de rajeunissement avec réfection du moteur et de l'embrayage. Le système hydraulique a été refait et modifié pour pouvoir fonctionner au LHM vert, ce qui lui a permis de gagner en fiabilité et de comporter des pièces plus faciles à remplacer. La voiture est équipée d'une capote noire et d'un couvre-tonneau rouge, dans des états quasi-neufs. L'habitacle comporte un Neiman ainsi qu'un autoradio et des haut-parleurs, système disponible à l'époque en option. Le compteur affiche 35 610 km. De très belle présentation, arborant ses phares longue portée, ce cabriolet DS offrira à son nouveau propriétaire le plaisir de pouvoir transporter quatre personnes cheveux au vent, dans l'incomparable confort de la suspension hydraulique.

In addition to the revolutionary character of the DS, the convertible version adds an exotic touch and specifically the incredible pleasure of a full four seater topless car. When it was presented to the public in 1961, the convertible DS was twice the price of the saloon, which says a lot about the care given to finish. At the time, its production was entrusted to the Henri Chapron workshops at Levallois, near Paris, which produced its own parallel models. The convertible received the enhancements to the DS series and in 1965 it was available as the DS 21, with a new engine of 2175cc, which developed 109bhp: a mechanical ensemble that offered the height of exceptional road behavior, managing to marry a high level of comfort with faultless handling.
Delivered new in the Alpes-Maritimes, this DS cabriolet 21 Million was registered for the first time on 16th of May, 1966 (corresponding to the letter M manual). The current seller is the third owner for the last 17 years, and the car has benefited from a complete restoration in his workshop. The chassis has been exposed, and the rails have been replaced, the body has been restored and repainted in its original colour. The mechanicals have also been given a facelift with repair of the engine and the clutch. The hydraulic system has been redesigned and modified to run on LHM green fuel, which makes the car more reliable with parts that are easier to replace. The car is equipped with a black roof that is in a state that is nearly new. The interior has a Neiman radio and speaker system, available at the time as an option. The counter shows just 35,610km.
